Fernbank Museum of Natural History: Tours & IMAX Theater

Natural history comes to life for all those who come to the Fernbank Museum. The largest dinosaurs that roamed the earth are on display for you to examine. You'll also have an opportunity to explore the world's many different cultures. Get hands-on with interactive exhibits and see archaeological artifacts that make science come alive for all ages. Get ready to be amazed and the IMAX® Theatre, showcasing three films that cover undersea life, pre-historic creatures, and global water issues. New to the museum, check out WildWoods and Fernback Forest for self-guided tours and outdoor trails in the heart of Atlanta.

  • What are some of the permanent exhibits?

    Fernbank NatureQuest is an interactive adventure that will turn you into an explorer and scientist via an array of hands-on activities. Dinosaur Plaza is an inviting outdoor space where you’ll be greeted by a family of bronze dinosaurs. Giants of the Mesozoic is an exhibit that’s true to its name. You’ll come face to face with Argentinosaurus, the largest known dinosaur ever, and Giganotosaurus, which was 47 feet long and weighed a whopping 8 tons.
  • What films are showing at the IMAX® Theatre?

    Movies change frequently. Now showing is “A Beautiful Panet” which shows a jaw-dropping glimpse of Earth from space. "National Parks Adventure" takes you over the red rock canyons, and into the clouds for some awe-inspiring views from the top.
